don’t need to tell me
Time travel is real
I have stood in the room with you
When you disrobed
Mixed the paint
Self-portrait, pitiless and true
You weaponized unsparing
Light for me-
hair cropped close
Seemless undergarment
So that I could know
Exactly how to strip,
Bear cross, and follow
You to the last breath.
“You weaponized unsparing \ Light for me -” please title your first collection, “Weaponized, Unsparing Light” (great piece.)
It is a line that sticks with me. Thank you:). It would not, could not, however, be my first collection–I have self-published a memoir (Just) and two extremely quiet books of verse–Fierce Angels and Just Words
Thank you–this poem has special significance to me because it cost me something precious
Which perhaps it should…
